About the position

Operation Samahan (OpSam Health) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that serves the San Diego County community. Founded in 1973 in a barber shop in Downtown San Diego by Filipino health professionals offering services to immigrants who did not have the finances, linguistic skills, or ability to navigate the health care system. Today, Operation Samahan has evolved into a diverse community health center with services available in National City, Mira Mesa, City Heights, and Rancho Penasquitos. We provide primary care, dental, behavioral health, family planning, integrative health and wellness, healthy eating, civic engagement, and other health-related services to the uninsured, underinsured, and underserved families of all income levels, regardless of their ability to pay. The Behavioral Health Therapist or Psychologist provides individual and group therapy as well as psycho-educational groups to underserved populations. Licensed clinicians provide evidence-based services as part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes the PCP, psychiatrists, case managers, medical assistants, the behavioral health director, and other health and social service providers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, group therapy as well as psycho-educational groups
  • Perform behavioral health assessments, treatment planning
  • Document all services
  • Perform peer chart auditing
  • Work with department operations to achieve goals
  • Assist clients with referrals to community-based programs
  • Provide culturally informed and competent services to underserved communities
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, peer audits, and appropriate QA meetings
  • Comply with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligations.

Requirements

  • Licensed by the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed by the Board of Psychology as a Licensed Psychologist
  • Bilingual preferred
  • High level of organizational skills
  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to relate to and work well with people of all ages, social and ethnic backgrounds
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Understanding of client needs as consumers of health care
  • Ability to complete many different duties without loss of efficiency or composure
  • Ability to work under stress in critical or unusual situations
  • Demonstrates ability to exercise analytic ability.
