About The Position

The Behavioral Health Specialist (BHS) provides compassionate, comprehensive behavioral health care by assessing mental, emotional, and behavioral needs and delivering psychotherapy through individual, group, and family sessions. This role also designs and implements health behavior interventions that promote meaningful, lasting lifestyle change. Working closely with an interdisciplinary care team, the BHS helps develop integrated care plans and contributes to collaborative decision-making to ensure truly holistic, person-centered support.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in counseling psychology, Clinical Psychology, Applied Psychology, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, Mental Health, or equivalent
  • Possess current CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months of employment by LifeCircles.
  • Experience providing behavioral health services (including assessment, psychotherapy, counseling, and behavioral consultation) with older adults, individuals with serious mental illness or disabilities, and within medical settings and integrated health teams.
  • Experience with substance use treatment, dialectical behavior therapy, or caregiver training
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practice and comfort with integrated approaches to care
  • Ability to identify strong differential diagnosis of mental disorders and treatment planning

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to provide comprehensive care, aligning medical and behavioral health strategies.
  • Train staff on mental health care approaches and best practices to improve service delivery.
  • Coach care partners to enhance their skills in supporting participants’ behavioral health needs.
  • Conduct thorough bio-psychosocial assessments to evaluate the holistic needs of participants.
  • Perform differential diagnoses to identify specific mental health conditions and inform personalized care plans.
  • Provide consultation on behavioral health issues, creating tailored treatment plans that promote wellness.
  • Develop strategies aimed at supporting participants' autonomy and enabling them to remain in their community settings.
  • Deliver direct behavioral health interventions through individual and group therapy.
  • Provide services across a variety of environments including day centers, participants’ homes, acute care facilities, and long-term care settings
  • Lead initiatives focused on program development to enhance person-centered care.
  • Implement quality improvement measures aimed at improving the psychosocial wellness of participants, care partners, and staff.
