About the position

The Behavioral Health Clinician at Easterseals Michigan provides essential psychotherapy and support services to children with severe emotional disturbances and their families. This role involves conducting clinical assessments, developing treatment plans, and ensuring the delivery of appropriate behavioral health services. The clinician will also participate in crisis intervention and maintain comprehensive documentation of services provided.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, group, conjoint, or family psychotherapy and support services to children with severe emotional disturbance and their families.
  • Conduct clinical assessments and develop diagnoses.
  • Participate in developing person/family-centered treatment plans with client families.
  • Monitor client progress and coordinate appropriate behavioral health services.
  • Maintain electronic and paper charts, including required documentation of services, progress notes, treatment plans, and client rights documents.
  • Participate in individual supervision and team meetings to review progress and develop strategies for assisting families.
  • Provide 24/7 crisis intervention availability on a rotation basis.
  • Ensure paperwork is maintained in accordance with funder requirements and Easterseals policies.
  • Assess and review all requests for services and authorize medically necessary services for consumers.
  • Implement therapeutic modalities approved by Easterseals Michigan.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of trauma-informed care and co-occurring disorders.
  • Complete CAFAS/PECFAS assessments quarterly for all individuals served.

Requirements

  • Master level clinical license required.
  • Must meet qualifications of a Child Mental Health Professional (CMHP) and/or Mental Health Professional (MHP) per Michigan PIHP/CMHSP Provider Qualifications.
  • Possess a valid motor vehicle operator or chauffeur's license.
  • Knowledge and understanding of co-occurring disorders (mental health & substance abuse).
  • Must possess/obtain 24 documented training hours relative to Child Diagnostic Treatment Services (CDTS) within 3 months of employment and maintain 24 documented training hours annually thereafter.
  • Must be CAFAS Certified within the first 3 months of employment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in behavioral health.
  • Valid NCC certification.
