About the position

The Behavioral Health Clinical Specialist plays a vital role in delivering integrated care and high-quality services to individuals with significant mental health needs. This position involves overseeing clinical services, providing direct supervision to clinicians, and acting as a liaison across various Behavioral Health systems. The specialist ensures quality care delivery, makes independent decisions regarding program operations, and provides guidance and support during complex situations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily functioning of clinical services and provide direct supervision to clinicians.
  • Act as a liaison across Behavioral Health systems to ensure quality care delivery.
  • Offer guidance and consultation during complex and crisis situations, providing direct clinical care when necessary.
  • Review clinical documentation submitted by clinical staff, providing feedback and conducting audits as necessary.
  • Independently manage the daily workflow of assigned clinical services, assigning tasks and monitoring progress.
  • Form and maintain collaborative working relationships with community partners, courts, and justice system personnel.
  • Provide presentations and training to community partners about behavioral health services and crisis intervention.
  • Write clear, accurate reports and evaluations, ensuring compliance with legal, clinical, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree or higher in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years of related experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, or licensed Psychologist.
  • Possession of a valid, current Licensed Clinical Social Worker license, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist license, or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor license issued by the State of California.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate level.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience in providing clinical supervision and leadership in behavioral health settings.
  • Understanding of systems serving vulnerable adults, including those with substance use disorders and severe mental health challenges.
  • Excellent clinical skills in crisis intervention, assessments, and treatment planning.
  • Ability to work from a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive perspective.
  • Interest in developing and mentoring staff to become excellent clinicians.
