About the position

The Behavior Intervention Specialist is a crucial role within Soliant Education, dedicated to supporting high school teachers by developing and implementing behavior strategies for students with challenging behaviors. This full-time contract position involves collaboration with educational staff, participation in IEP development, and advocacy for positive behavioral support, aiming to enhance student success and foster a supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Observe students, collect data, and provide recommendations for Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs).
  • Collaborate with IEP teams to develop, implement, and monitor Functional Behavior Plans (FBPs).
  • Train and consult with classroom teachers and support staff on implementing FBPs and classroom modifications.
  • Conduct in-service training on positive behavior strategies and proactive classroom management techniques.
  • Serve as a resource for school staff and parents, facilitating communication between school and home regarding behavior intervention strategies.
  • Participate in student study and threat assessment teams to address behavioral concerns.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of interventions, progress, and outcomes.
  • Provide ongoing support and consultation for staff to help address challenging behaviors.
  • Perform additional duties related to behavior intervention as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Special Education, School Psychology, or Social Work.
  • Certification in Special Education, School Psychology, or Social Work.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with high school students exhibiting challenging behaviors.
  • Expertise in conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and developing Functional Behavior Plans (FBPs).
  • Strong skills in behavior management, de-escalation techniques, and staff training.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with both general education and special education teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and professional demeanor in challenging situations.
