About The Position

As a Battery Engineering Intern, you will support the development of lithium-ion battery packs for use in Impulse’s current and next generation space vehicles. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience working with flight electromechanical devices. This role offers exposure to multiple engineering disciplines and the full spacecraft product development life cycle – from design to launch.

Requirements

  • Recent completion or currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Hands-on project experience (ie Formula SAE, Design/Build/Fly, Senior Design)
  • CAD experience (MCAD or ECAD)
  • Hands-on experience with electronics or electrical test equipment
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with building battery packs or electromechanical devices
  • Experience with Siemens NX
  • Experience with ANSYS or Simcenter
  • Experience with Altium Designer

Responsibilities

  • Support electrical or structural finite element analysis of electromechanical hardware
  • Develop battery test hardware
  • Support qualification testing and pcb bring-up
  • Support battery assembly
  • Develop new CAD models
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and test teams
