About the position

As a Bartender at CRAVE American Kitchen & Sushi Bar, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional service to our guests. Your primary responsibilities will include taking beverage orders, verifying the age of guests, and ensuring that every interaction is positive and engaging. You will be expected to communicate clearly and enthusiastically, making guests feel appreciated and valued. Attention to detail is essential, as you will need to accurately count drinks served and assist guests proactively, ensuring their needs are met before they have to ask. In addition to serving drinks, you will be responsible for mixing cocktails and preparing various beverages, including wine and beer. You will also need to manage the bar area by prepping ingredients, cleaning glasses and utensils, and maintaining a tidy workspace. Your role will involve balancing the cash drawer at the end of your shift and collecting payments for drinks served. You will work closely with other staff members to create an efficient and enjoyable atmosphere for both guests and team members. This position requires a commitment to responsible alcohol service, including recognizing when guests may have had too much to drink and taking appropriate actions to ensure their safety. You will be part of a fast-paced environment that operates seven days a week, with shifts that can start as early as 9 AM and extend until 2 AM. Your ability to multitask and maintain a positive attitude will be key to your success in this role.

Responsibilities

• Take beverage orders from serving staff or directly from guests.
• Check identification of guests to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol.
• Communicate with guests using clear and enthusiastic words, tone, and body language at all times.
• Make guests feel appreciated through your actions.
• Count drinks guests are served.
• Be attentive and offer assistance before guests have to ask for it.
• Work as a team with all personnel to maintain an effective atmosphere and efficient food and beverage service.
• Collect payment for drinks served.
• Mix ingredients to prepare cocktails and other drinks.
• Serve wine, and bottled or draft beer.
• Limit problems and liability related to guests' excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading guests to stop drinking or ordering transportation for intoxicated guests.
• Prep bar ingredients made in house and stock all garnishes.
• Clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment; restock glassware from the dishwasher.
• Remove recycling full of empty bottles.
• Clean bars, work areas, and tables.
• Balance cash drawer when shift is completed.
• Other duties as directed.

Requirements

• Alcohol Service Certification is a plus.
• Basic mathematical skills to handle money and give correct change.
• Basic reading skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits, and familiarity with standard drink recipes.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask.
