About The Position

The Barista is the face of the coffee shop, responsible for preparing high-quality espresso-based beverages, coffee drinks, and food items while delivering exceptional customer service. This role promotes coffee enjoyment through customer engagement, beverage expertise, and creating a welcoming experience for every guest.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 180 days (6 months) of previous cash-handling experience required.
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions and information.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to respond professionally to customer inquiries and concerns.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
  • No licensure or certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous barista, retail, food service, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Experience operating a point-of-sale (POS) system is a plus.
  • Experience working in a retail, coffee shop, food service, or customer-facing environment preferred.
  • Previous barista experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers in a friendly and welcoming manner while maintaining a clean and sanitary environment.
  • Prepare and present high-quality coffee and espresso beverages with attention to detail.
  • Maintain efficient customer flow while providing outstanding customer service.
  • Identify customer preferences and accurately prepare customized beverages.
  • Foster a positive team environment and remain composed during busy periods.
  • Prepare food items and grab-and-go products as ordered by customers.
  • Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot coffee equipment; report repair needs to management.
  • Operate cash registers and computerized order-entry systems accurately and efficiently.
  • Process payments and maintain the security of cash, charge slips, vouchers, and rewards transactions.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills when interacting with customers, patients, visitors, and team members.
  • Communicate openly, honestly, respectfully, and compassionately with others.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Follow dress code and grooming standards to maintain a professional appearance.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Perform opening and closing duties and complete assigned cleaning checklists.
  • Follow portion control, cash-handling, and food service procedures.
  • Comply with all food safety, sanitation, and foodborne illness prevention requirements.
  • Interact respectfully and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Communicate concerns through the appropriate chain of command.
  • Support customer experience initiatives and service excellence goals.
  • Contribute ideas and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Embrace change, demonstrate flexibility, and participate in cross-training opportunities.
  • Work rotating shifts based on operational and business needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
