About the position

The Banking Relationship Specialist at ConnectOne Bank is responsible for enhancing the client banking experience by acquiring, retaining, and expanding relationships with both business and consumer clients. This role emphasizes a People First approach, ensuring that clients receive personalized service while adhering to the bank's operational standards. The specialist will engage in proactive sales, account management, and customer service, contributing to the overall success of the branch and the bank's mission to support small business owners and foster community growth.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Bank's People First focus and rules of engagement by greeting clients by name and maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for relationship acquisition and development by cross-selling the Bank's products and services.
  • Perform account opening for deposit products and educate clients on the Bank's offerings.
  • Ensure compliance with operational, security, and control procedures to prevent fraud and protect customer assets.
  • Handle customer service issues by conducting research and following up until resolution.
  • Assist branch team members with transactions and operations, providing feedback and coaching as necessary.
  • Perform service transactions including check re-orders, address changes, and account maintenance.
  • Serve as primary back-up to the Branch Manager or Assistant Branch Manager for operational functions.
  • Assist with teller functions, including banking transactions over the phone or at the drive-up window.
  • Participate actively in achieving branch sales objectives and maintain high service performance.

Requirements

  • Strong needs-based sales skills.
  • 1 to 3 years of bank platform sales and teller experience.
  • Detailed understanding of federal banking compliance and requirements.
  • Strong interest in People First principles and ability to meet customer needs.
  • Effective teambuilding and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to lift items up to 25 lbs.
  • Mastery of ConnectOne Bank culture.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule as needed.
