About the position

The Bakery Sales Associate at Yoke's Fresh Market is responsible for providing a pleasant and efficient bakery experience by actively engaging guests and ensuring they receive exceptional hospitality and professional service. This role involves promoting sales, mentoring new associates, and maintaining high standards of food safety and customer service in the bakery department.

Responsibilities

• Reporting for assigned shifts on time and regularly, capable of communicating clearly and demonstrating suitable physical abilities to safely perform assigned tasks and duties.
• Promoting sales through active discussions with guests, offering product recommendations, samples, and discussing current promotions and service information.
• Providing exceptional service by greeting guests, informing them of specials, and assisting with special orders and requests.
• Mentoring new associates or those new to the department, ensuring a positive learning environment.
• Understanding and performing various bakery tasks including product preparation, labeling, and merchandising.
• Operating bakery equipment safely and correctly, including ovens, slicers, and fryers.
• Ensuring compliance with local, state, federal, and company regulations regarding workplace safety and food handling.
• Participating in the Bakery Department's accident reduction plan and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid State Food Handlers Permit.
• Valid Driver's License or State I.D. Card.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and communicate effectively with guests and associates.
• Mathematical skills to perform calculations involving money and measurements.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a bakery or food service environment.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices.
