About the position

Valley's Own Bakehouse is seeking a passionate Scratch Baker to join our team in Rosemount, MN. The role involves creating a variety of baked goods in a certified gluten-free environment, ensuring quality and consistency in every product. The ideal candidate will have previous professional baking experience and be available for flexible scheduling, including part-time hours. Responsibilities

  • Measure and mix ingredients to form dough or batter using a Hobart mixer or by hand.
  • Shape dough for cookies and pies, placing them in greased or floured pans for baking.
  • Work with proof box and rack oven baking.
  • Frost and pipe cakes, cupcakes, and cream tarts.
  • Help maintain inventory of baking supplies, coolers, and freezers.
  • Package, case, and freeze products as needed.
  • Ensure products are produced according to established standards.
  • Perform gluten and other allergen testing.
  • Research and develop new recipes as requested.
  • Alert management of potential theft or other emergencies.
  • Wash dishes according to established guidelines and maintain a sanitary kitchen.
  • Clean up spills immediately and take out trash after shifts.
  • Follow Bakehouse safety, storage, and labeling procedures.
  • Advise management of equipment repair and replacement needs.
  • Participate in periodic inventory counts and attend staff meetings and training requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be 18+ years old.
  • Previous professional baking experience (1+ years).
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills (spoken, listening, & written).
  • Ability to read and convert established recipes using standard units of measurement.
  • Excellent time management and detail-oriented skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and remain flexible to the changing needs of the business.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous cake decorating experience (1+ years).
  • Previous experience with fryer usage.
  • Familiarity with natural foods, dietary allergies, gluten-free/celiac, grocery industry or cooperatives.
  • Ability to use a forklift.
