As the Baker and Decorator, this role is responsible for preparing, baking, and decorating a variety of baked goods that support Active Generations’ programs and initiatives, including catering, Custom Cookies, and more. As the Baker and Decorator, this individual combines creativity with consistency to ensure products are visually appealing, high quality, and aligned with organizational standards. This role plays an important part in enhancing the customer experience while supporting the mission of serving the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Food safety certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail, creativity, and consistency in both baking and decorating.
  • Ability to follow recipes precisely while also bringing artistic skill to presentation and design.
  • Organized, able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, and maintains high standards for cleanliness and food safety.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are essential.
  • Experience with decorating techniques such as piping, frosting, and design work is preferred, along with a willingness to learn and adapt to new methods or tools.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and bake a variety of items including cookies, cakes, bars, breads, and other baked goods in accordance with established recipes and production schedules
  • Decorate baked goods with attention to detail, including icing, piping, and finishing techniques to ensure visual appeal and consistency
  • Support custom orders, including themed or specialty decorated items, while maintaining quality and timelines
  • Assist with packaging and presentation of products for retail, catering, or special events
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen and baking areas in compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Monitor inventory levels of baking and decorating supplies and communicate needs in a timely manner
  • Follow standardized recipes while also contributing ideas for new products, seasonal offerings, or improvements
  • Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of ingredients and finished products
  • Collaborate with team members across programs (e.g., catering, events, nutrition services) to meet production needs
  • Support the evolution of baking and decorating processes, including the use of technology, ordering systems, or production tracking tools
  • Assist with other catering or kitchen tasks as needed.
