About the position

Peraton is seeking a full-time background investigator to conduct in-person background investigations to determine the employment suitability of individuals requiring access to sensitive or classified U.S. Government information. The role involves extensive travel, face-to-face interviews, record searches, and reporting findings in a clear and concise manner. Candidates must reside within 30 miles of Phoenix, AZ, and be able to complete a rigorous training program to be certified in Federal Investigative Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully complete a full-time, 6-7 week new Investigator training both virtually and in person to be certified in Federal Investigative Standards.
  • Travel daily to conduct in-person background investigations.
  • Schedule and conduct face-to-face interviews with subjects and their neighbors, employers, friends, and family.
  • Perform record searches at police agencies, courthouses, educational and financial institutions, and medical/mental health facilities.
  • Type and report all obtained information in a clear and concise report on a government-issued computer system.
  • Work independently while also being a member of a team of Investigators and with a Field Manager.

Requirements

  • 4 years of general work experience or a bachelor's degree; experience conducting DCSA/NBIB or other federal background investigations preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret eligible clearance; active federal background investigation with a T5 adjudication preferred.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Daily travel required locally and outside of primary work area as needed.
  • Home office required.
  • Valid driver's license and full-time usage of reliable transportation required.
  • Accurate and efficient typing capabilities (40+ WPM recommended).
  • Ability to speak for extended periods and hear sufficiently to communicate in person and over the phone.
  • Proficient grammar and writing skills to submit high-quality reports with minimal errors.
  • Ability to interact professionally with others and maintain high levels of confidentiality, ethics, and integrity.
