About the position
The Backend Software Engineer role at ByteDance involves designing, implementing, and delivering scalable backend services for the global e-commerce business. This position is crucial for maintaining the quality and stability of the systems while continuously improving existing architectures. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions, utilizing agile methodologies throughout the software development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and deliver highly scalable backend services and systems for global e-commerce business, including product, transaction, payment, fulfillment, and after-sales.
- Participate in data structure, algorithm design and analysis, networking, data security, and highly scalable systems design.
- Continuously improve the stability, scalability, and quality of the existing services and architecture of central product systems.
- Maintain the quality and stability of the system, and guide engineers at all levels to continuously optimize various technical indicators of the system.
- Investigate and implement new technologies related to e-commerce business.
Requirements
- Must have a Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Information Technology, Architecture, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related STEM field, and 1 year of related work experience; OR a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Information Technology, Architecture, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related STEM field, and 3 years of related work experience.
- 1 year of experience in designing and implementing scalable, fault tolerant, distributed, and low latency backend workflow orchestration architecture.
- 1 year of experience in designing and implementing scalable, fault tolerant, and distributed backend event driven architecture.
- 1 year of experience in designing and implementing scalable RESTful APIs.
- Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders to gather business requirements and translate them into technical requirements, using agile methodology for the entire software development lifecycle.
- Experience writing testable, maintainable, and low latency software using high level programming languages, including Golang, Java, Python, or C++.
