About the position

The B2B Sales Consultant at Staples, Inc. is responsible for prospecting and acquiring new small to medium business customers within a defined territory. This high-velocity sales role involves engaging with prospects through various channels, including phone, video, and face-to-face interactions, to drive sales and onboard new accounts. The position requires effective appointment setting, communication of Staples' value propositions, and collaboration with internal teams to close deals and ensure customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Hunt within defined territory to prospect and win new small to medium business customers.
  • Exhibit effective appointment setting skills and set the required number of appointments each week with decision makers.
  • Utilize professional selling skills to discover prospects' needs and effectively communicate Staples' value propositions.
  • Overcome objections and close sales using prescribed selling tools to prioritize activities and document customer engagement.
  • Work closely with customer support, setup teams, and category specialists to progress deals to closure.
  • Implement and ramp new accounts, ensuring compliance with new account/program requirements.
  • Create lasting relationships with customers to encourage repeat purchases from Staples.
  • Integrate feedback from prospects into the sales approach and adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Communicate with prospects daily in a professional manner, both in person and virtually.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of successful sales experience or success as a Staples B2B Sales Associate.
  • 3+ years experience in PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong drive and desire to win, with a proven ability to view rejection as a learning opportunity.
  • Experience in business development and consultative selling.
  • Strong ability to develop and deliver presentations both virtually and in person.
  • Advanced client management skills and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to analyze business and industry trends to create tailored solutions for prospects.
  • Demonstrated work ethic and self-discipline, with the ability to function independently.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools
  • Industry knowledge is a plus.
