About the position

The Behavioral Health Consultant position at Children's Wisconsin is a part-time role focused on providing urgent mental health care to children and families in a walk-in clinic setting. The clinic operates during after-hours, catering to patients aged 5-18 with various mental and behavioral health needs. The role emphasizes collaboration within a multidisciplinary team, with no treatment plans or productivity demands, allowing therapists to focus on patient care and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide urgent mental health care to children and families in a walk-in clinic setting.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to address the mental health needs of patients.
  • Document patient interactions and care provided during clinic hours.
  • Maintain a positive attitude while working with high acuity and crisis-type patients.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Marriage & Family Counseling, or related field from an accredited program.
  • 3000 hours of post-Master's experience, or a PhD or PsyD from an APA accredited program.
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Professional Counselor (LPC), or Psychologist from the State of Wisconsin.
  • At least two years of behavioral health treatment experience with children and adolescents.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a pediatric primary care or other pediatric medical setting.
  • Clinical experience with diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Records.
