About the position
The AWS Platform Operations Team aims to be the trusted partner for GTO, delivering expert consultation and co-creating best practices with AWS, Resiliency, and Engineering teams. The team manages platform-impacting events, ensures governance adherence, and champions a distributed operational model within IOPs to drive agility and innovation. The focus is on enabling operational excellence and empowering teams to maximize cloud capabilities. The services provided by the AWS Platform Operations Team include platform-level improvements, VPC and networking support, CVE ownership, and data movement, while leading AWS Cloud transformation within the IOPS support organization.
Responsibilities
- Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew, providing guidance and training as necessary.
- Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions.
- Manages the resolution of complex platform issues elevated from staff and clients.
- Manages technical support staff who implement, monitor, troubleshoot, and install cloud computing platforms.
- Plans, develops, and executes short-range goals and strategies to meet objectives.
- Develops and implements changes to department policies and standard operating procedures.
- Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement and leads quality initiatives.
- Responsible for delivering software maintenance and ensuring optimization of system uptime and performance.
- Collaborates with key stakeholders to develop and maintain standards for platforms.
- Implements new technologies for enterprise-wide infrastructure projects.
- Develops technical standards to serve Vanguard's technical needs.
- Manages the ongoing performance of IT cloud vendor products and services.
- Learns and understands client area business functions and requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum of eight years related work experience.
- Undergraduate degree in a related field or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Strong skills in managing remote crew or crew in other physical sites.
- Strong skills in communication and leadership.
