About the position
The Application Architect at Compass Technology will lead the design, implementation, and deployment of innovative solutions within the Enterprise Architecture team. This role requires a highly motivated individual with strong technical knowledge to create roadmaps, standards, and practices that ensure the long-term viability of business solutions. The architect will work closely with engineering teams, audit applications for security and performance, and mentor junior developers.
Responsibilities
- Work with teams of engineers and architects of cloud solutions to ensure technical standards and practices are met.
- Audit applications for security and performance improvements.
- Create and test application prototypes for business integration.
- Guide business teams to a preferred, standardized solution.
- Mentor junior application developers.
- Document roadmaps, assumptions, technical specifications, etc.
- Serve as technical advisor on the most specialized phases of system design, implementation, analysis, and development.
Requirements
- BS/BA degree.
- Strong experience with major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Ability to articulate cloud technologies and solutions to all levels of customer and contractor personnel.
- Understanding of API models and design patterns.
- High degree of proficiency with Python, TypeScript, build tools, CI/CD, Git, and pipelines.
- Experience with performance monitoring tools across the entire stack.
- Working understanding of SQL engines, monitoring, and tuning.
Nice-to-haves
- Strong technical experience working migrations or systems development as well as coordinating from a business perspective.
- Understanding of IDM (SAML, SSO).
- 5+ years' experience working within a DevOps environment, utilizing cloud services, solutions, and provisioning/automating cloud infrastructure, services, and tools.
