About the position
The AVP/Associate Special Assets Workout role involves managing a portfolio of distressed corporate loans, focusing on credit analysis, loan restructuring, and compliance with regulatory standards. The position requires strong leadership skills to mentor junior team members while ensuring effective communication with senior management regarding portfolio performance and risks.
Responsibilities
- Oversee a portfolio of distressed corporate loans both domestically and internationally.
- Regularly analyze borrower's financial health to determine loan viability and potential for restructuring.
- Propose strategies for restructuring distressed loans, including negotiating terms or selling the loans.
- Create action plans for each distressed credit, including potential liquidations or loan sales.
- Prepare detailed reports on loan performance, including forecasts and risk ratings.
- Communicate regularly with senior management about the portfolio's performance and risks.
- Work with internal and external legal teams to negotiate loan amendments, waivers, or settlements.
- Ensure proper accruals, reporting, and ongoing monitoring of each loan's performance.
- Mentor and guide junior team members, providing on-the-job training and supervision.
- Ensure all actions adhere to company policies, regulatory standards, and risk management guidelines.
Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience in workout management for complex corporate loans or 3 years in a turnaround consulting firm.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA preferred.
- Strong understanding of financial analysis, loan documentation, and banking guidelines.
- Expertise in cash flow modeling, credit analysis, and structuring loan workouts.
- Ability to negotiate complex loan restructurings and settlements.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency with financial software tools like Excel, Bloomberg, and Moody's.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently.
