Aviation Physician Assistant (ONGOING RECRUITMENT)

About the position

We are seeking an outstanding Physician Assistant to join our team at Barksdale AFB, LA. As a Physician Assistant specializing in Aviation Medicine, you will have the opportunity to provide a full range of primary and specialty medical care to our military members, their families, and retired military veterans. Responsibilities

• Provide a full range of Physician Assistant services in primary and specialty medical care within the limits of training and privileges granted by the MTF.
• Supervise and provide general screening, medical care, and examinations of patients for routine, acute, and chronic conditions involving any organ systems.
• Administer immunizations and diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated.
• Technically direct and provide care for various diseases and types of injuries, including acute, chronic, and minor trauma.
• Recognize emergency conditions, diagnose, prescribe, and treat diseases, disorders, and injuries, referring complex cases to qualified medical personnel.
• Technically direct and teach other staff, provide educational lectures, and participate in in-service training.
• Promote preventive care, health maintenance, and positive health behaviors through education and counseling.
• Prescribe medications and immunizations following approved treatment protocols.
• Identify medical issues and determine appropriate action, including referral to a physician.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic practices and procedures within the scope of practice.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other staff members to promote primary care services.
• Teach patients and their family members healthy regimens and responsibilities for achieving wellness.
• Attend staff meetings to provide case discussions, continuing education, and quality improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant or equivalent.
• Graduate of a Physician Assistant Training Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
• Minimum of 24 months of recent experience as a Physician Assistant.
• Current unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant.
• DEA registration number.
• Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Committee on Certification Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to pass a background check/security clearance.
