About the position

The Autonomous Driving/ADAS Research Engineer at Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is responsible for researching and developing advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving technologies. This role involves staying updated with the latest technologies, collaborating with various stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and testing requirements. The engineer will also engage in competitive benchmarking, customer feedback evaluation, and contribute to cost-saving initiatives while supporting the overall mission of the Autonomous Development Department.

Responsibilities

  • Research new technologies by attending supplier demonstrations, visiting trade shows, and reviewing trade journals, reporting findings and making recommendations for future products.
  • Evaluate field/customer concerns after system launch and drive resolution to maintain or improve customer expectations.
  • Participate in or conduct competitive vehicle benchmarking activities, collaborating to plan and schedule evaluations with suppliers and HMG R&D.
  • Perform and participate in cost-saving initiatives and analyze revenue streams related to ADAS implementations.
  • Identify specification deficiencies that prevent system functionality and report these concerns for tracking and alignment.
  • Participate in testing of Autonomous Driving functionality based on Test Development Plans (TDPs).
  • Create and present reports for management review, including project status, technical data, and competitive benchmark studies.
  • Perform additional projects and tasks as assigned to support the overall mission of HATCI.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of Autonomous Parking & Driving Systems and familiarity with Camera, Radar, Ultrasonic, & LiDAR sensors.
  • ADAS development experience is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication.
