About the position

The Automotive Service Manager will lead the service department of a dealership, focusing on enhancing customer care, managing a team, and driving customer retention and repeat business. This role involves overseeing service operations, increasing profitable service labor sales, and ensuring compliance with manufacturer policies and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform supervisory duties including interviewing, hiring, training, and appraising performance of service staff.
  • Cultivate a customer-focused environment through effective training and leadership.
  • Responsible for monthly business results and presenting upcoming goals to upper management.
  • Analyze service sales metrics, repair orders, and invoices to maximize sales opportunities.
  • Hold meetings with staff to update on sales and marketing activities, goals, and objectives.
  • Oversee the production system, assigning tasks to qualified technicians.
  • Support Service Advisors in ensuring timely job completion.
  • Deliver technical training for technicians and monitor their certifications.
  • Comprehend and uphold manufacturer warranty policies and train service staff accordingly.
  • Manage warranty receivables in alignment with dealership guidelines.
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA regulations and compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Train service employees to handle customer complaints effectively and ensure customer satisfaction goals are met.
  • Collaborate with the parts department to coordinate daily activities and promotions.

Requirements

  • At least three years of experience managing a union shop in a branded automotive dealership.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to listen and be empathetic.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience providing outstanding customer service and fostering trust.
  • Friendly, enthusiastic, reliable, and a positive team-player attitude.
  • Strong computer skills including Reynolds & Reynolds, Ignite, and Microsoft Office.
