About the position

The Automation Technician position at Viega involves ensuring that machines operate at peak levels of quality and efficiency while driving continuous improvement processes. The role includes leadership responsibilities, training new employees, and maintaining production standards in a new factory set to open in July 2025 in Mantua, OH. Comprehensive training will be provided prior to the plant opening, and the position offers a chance to be part of the initial team in establishing the factory and building the brand in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure machines operate at peak levels of quality and efficiency.
  • Drive improvements through the continuous improvement process.
  • Develop, train, and motivate team members based on expertise.
  • Complete machine changeovers for production runs.
  • Monitor machines to ensure processes run according to specifications.
  • Relieve operators and fill in for supervisors as needed.
  • Maintain set-up records for machines and products produced.
  • Submit first article inspection parts to quality for approval.
  • Make minor mechanical repairs and adjustments to machines.
  • Assemble equipment and tooling for scheduled production runs.
  • Communicate production information to Supervisor daily.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues.
  • Inspect tooling before and after production runs to ensure quality.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on tooling as needed.
  • Maintain documentation on processing and tooling issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and guidelines.
  • Perform 6S activities to maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Prior experience running automated equipment (e.g., robotics, packaging, or assembly cells).
  • Experience working with HMI controls.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite.
  • Experience in SAP.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work with little supervision.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to solve problems and make quick decisions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SOP and set-point tracking.
