About The Position

Zwicker & Associates, P.C. is a leading provider of quality recovery solutions for creditors, committed to maintaining the highest standards of legal and regulatory compliance. They are seeking a dedicated Legal Compliance Associate Attorney to join their dynamic legal team. This position offers significant responsibility and a blend of litigation and compliance-oriented work. The Legal Compliance Associate Attorney will join Zwicker’s experienced in-house counsel team and be primarily responsible for conducting internal reviews of legal threats, lawsuits, and government agency complaints against the firm under the supervision of senior lawyers within the group. The ideal candidate will have one to five years of experience practicing law with a demonstrated record of performing fact investigations, identifying and analyzing legal issues, and communicating findings and recommendations to relevant parties. They will have the opportunity to draft correspondence with government agencies and opposing parties, making effective written communication essential. Other opportunities may include assisting in the design and implementation of compliance programs relevant to consumer and commercial debt collection, data privacy and security, and employment-related issues. This position will report directly to the Vice President of Legal Compliance for the Firm.

Requirements

  • Minimum one year of experience as a practicing attorney.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted, active and in good standing with at least one State Bar.
  • Ability to anticipate legal issues, risks and compliance needs.
  • Ability to develop legal strategy and exercise sound independent judgment.
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze and interpret laws and regulations.
  • Ability to appropriately maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required.
  • Be able to communicate in a common language with (or to) individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing.
  • Be able to operate a computer, phone, or equivalent device.
  • Be able to complete a minimum of a 40-hour flexible workweek schedule.
  • Be able to read and comprehend position-specific documents and correspondence.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the legal and regulatory requirements affecting the debt collection and financial services industries preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and state consumer protections laws preferred.

Responsibilities
