The Attorney-Advisor position at the U.S. Office of Inspector General for the Federal Housing Finance Agency involves providing legal counsel and support for various agency operations. The role includes writing legal memoranda, reviewing policies for legal sufficiency, and representing the agency in administrative and federal court cases. Responsibilities

  • Write memoranda of law, client correspondence, or notes after researching statutory and case law.
  • Review policies, procedures, regulations, technical manuals, and other agency publications for legal sufficiency.
  • Act as legal counsel to the head of major operating programs of FHFA-OIG, including research and consultation on legal aspects of audits, evaluations, and investigations.
  • Prepare and present cases before administrative tribunals and act as agency counsel for cases in federal court.
  • Review the legal aspects of audits, evaluations, and investigations performed by FHFA-OIG and ensure that legal and factual elements of cases involving fiscal or program irregularities, criminal fraud, or employee wrongdoing are independently researched.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of a law school accredited by the American Bar Association at the time of graduation.
  • Must be a current member of a bar with a valid license to practice law in a state or territory of the United States, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
  • At least seven years of professional legal experience for EL-14 level or at least five years for EL-13 level.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in federal law or government operations.
  • Familiarity with housing finance regulations.
