About the position
The Athletic Trainer at Saint Leo University will be responsible for the daily evaluation and care of student-athletes who have sustained injuries or are undergoing rehabilitation. This full-time position requires the candidate to work under the supervision of the Director of Sports Medicine, ensuring adherence to medical guidelines and maintaining comprehensive documentation of injuries and treatments. The role emphasizes injury prevention and requires availability for nights, weekends, and travel with teams.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and care for injured student-athletes.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage daily treatment and rehabilitation for student-athletes.
- Maintain accurate documentation of injuries and medical incidents using the Sportsware system.
- Enforce all Sports Medicine/Athletics policies and procedures.
- Ensure availability of emergency equipment at events and knowledge of emergency action plans.
- Foster positive relationships with athletic department staff, student-athletes, and faculty.
Requirements
- Master's degree in athletic training preferred from an accredited institution.
- Eligible for Florida State Licensure.
- Certified by Board of Certification (BOC).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers certification.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong record-keeping abilities.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a collegiate athletic environment.
- Knowledge of sports nutrition and supplements.
- Familiarity with mental health and concussion management.
