About the position

The position involves providing athletic training outreach services for secondary schools and universities in the area. The role requires the care of injuries using therapeutic modalities and rehabilitation techniques, as well as evaluating readiness for athletes to return to daily activities and coordinating clearances when necessary. The athletic trainer will be responsible for providing medical care at assigned locations and covering special athletic events as scheduled. Communication with team physicians regarding athletic health care and treatment recommendations is essential, along with maintaining an effective athletic training room and communicating with parents about their student-athletes' care and treatment. The trainer will also be responsible for filing reports related to athletic injuries, maintaining a daily treatment log, overseeing the ordering of supplies and equipment, and ensuring a safe playing environment by monitoring environmental risks.

Responsibilities

  • Care for injuries using therapeutic modalities and rehabilitation techniques.
  • Evaluate readiness to return to daily activities, and coordinate clearances when necessary.
  • Provide athletic training outreach and medical care to assigned location.
  • Responsible for athletic training special event coverage when scheduled.
  • Maintain a line of communication with the team physician(s) regarding athletic health care and recommended treatment/rehabilitation for all athletic injuries.
  • Maintain an effective and efficient athletic training room.
  • Maintain communication with parents on the care & treatment of their student-athlete.
  • File all necessary reports associated with athletic injuries and/or incidents.
  • Maintain a daily treatment log.
  • Oversee the ordering of supplies and equipment pertaining to the athletic training room and maintain an up-to-date inventory.
  • Create a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks.

Requirements

  • Degree in athletic training/sports medicine from CAATE approved institution.
  • NATA certification in good standing.
  • Current state license in Athletic Training.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2 years experience as a certified athletic trainer.
  • Masters Degree in related field.
