About the position

The Assortment Planning Manager at Charta Group Inc. is responsible for implementing strategic inventory management, sales forecasting, and pricing strategies to enhance customer experience and drive profitable growth. This remote role focuses on managing inventory across various channels, establishing consumer-driven assortment plans, and ensuring product availability at optimal pricing. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to align sales, inventory, and pricing plans with the company's overall business strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Help develop and implement assortment and merchandising strategies in collaboration with product development and marketing teams.
  • Create bottoms-up sales forecasts for items and categories based on historical data, market trends, and strategic goals.
  • Develop and maintain competitive pricing strategies that align with market dynamics and consumer expectations.
  • Forecast purchase order quantities for new and carryover items to support eCommerce and retail channels.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels by balancing demand planning with top-down financial targets.
  • Facilitate and communicate inventory and pricing needs across omni-channel assortment strategies.
  • Manage the open-to-buy process for finished goods, reviewing regularly with leadership.
  • Provide in-depth assortment, pricing analysis, merchandising reports, and actionable insights to leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Work closely with Purchasing, Product Development, Marketing, eCommerce, Manufacturing, and Finance to execute the company's strategy.
  • Partner with the eCommerce team to optimize the online product catalog, pricing tactics, and merchandising strategies.
  • Continuously identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Support other brands under the company umbrella with assortment planning and pricing strategies as needed.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, market changes, competitor pricing, and merchandising activities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in merchandise planning, eCommerce merchandising, pricing strategy, allocations, or operations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, etc.) and experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Strong understanding of supply chain functions, including purchasing, sourcing, manufacturing, planning, and logistics.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret financial, pricing, and sales data to make data-driven decisions and recommendations.
  • Strong analytical skills with a collaborative and strategic mindset.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with experience in cross-functional collaboration.
  • Customer service-oriented approach with a high level of ethics, honesty, and integrity.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ERP systems such as Sage, Oracle, or NetSuite.
  • Comprehensive understanding of retail math, inventory planning methodologies, and pricing analysis.
  • Previous experience in an eCommerce focused merchandising and pricing role.
