About the position

The Associate Technician position within the Power Cycle Machinery group at Southwest Research Institute involves supporting engineers in setting up and conducting tests on machinery used in the energy industry. The role includes managing parts inventory, maintaining facility operations, and assisting in drafting activities related to pipe routing and design updates.

Responsibilities

  • Install/remove piping components and assemblies.
  • Assist in assembling/disassembling test fixtures and mechanical hardware.
  • Load, unload, and move materials and equipment for operations.
  • Drive Institute vehicles and forklifts; operate cranes and other lifts.
  • Assist in wiring and troubleshooting instrumentation and data acquisition.
  • Assemble machinery components and supporting test loop hardware, including piping flange assembly and bolted joints.
  • Communicate with SwRI staff, clients, and vendors regarding work status and testing results.
  • Participate in continuous operational and safety improvement processes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-3 years of experience with mechanical tools, general laboratory equipment, and piping systems.
  • Valid/clear driver's license required.
