About The Position

This position is contingent upon contract award. The Associate Professor of Aerospace Science will be responsible for instructing cadets on Air Force organizational structure, mission, doctrine, leadership, customs and courtesies, operations, tactics, techniques, procedures, regulations, and policies. The role involves conducting classroom, laboratory, off-site, and experiential training activities, and evaluating student performance. Additionally, the position supports cadet training and development, including planning and coordinating Leadership Laboratory (LLAB) activities and other development events. It also involves assisting with Professional Military Training (PMT), Professional Development Training (PDT), and physical fitness program oversight, as well as administering the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test (AFOQT), Field Training preparation, and cadet evaluations. The role includes cadet administration and personnel support, performing administrative actions in accordance with AFROTCI 36-2011 and applicable Holm Center guidance, supporting enrollment processing, scholarship administration, disciplinary actions, medical documentation, and records management. Cadet pay actions, textbook payments, uniform commutation pay, and travel processing are also part of the responsibilities. Resource management and operational support include assisting with detachment resource management, lesson plan management, distribution of educational materials, academic program updates, and compliance with Automated AFROTC Mail System (ARMS) directives. Support for detachment, regional, and headquarters-level boards, evaluations, award packages, decorations, instructor qualification packages, and promotion or reduction boards is required. The position also assists with inspections, operational evaluations, compliance reviews, and facility inspections. Recruiting and outreach support is essential, including participation in recruiting, outreach, and marketing events, prospect development, recruiting data management, and participation in orientations, college fairs, parades, high school visits, and community engagement events. Support for Cross Town Agreement activities with affiliated colleges and universities is also expected. Finally, the role involves continuous improvement and mission support through analysis of instructional effectiveness and operations to identify process improvements and operational efficiencies, providing recommendations for corrective actions, procedural improvements, technology integration, and mission enhancement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • Must possess a Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Must have at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Must have prior military experience, preferably as an Air Force officer.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, coordinate, and deliver Aerospace Studies instruction in accordance with AFROTC curriculum guidance, academic syllabi, and Department of the Air Force training requirements.
  • Instruct cadets on Air Force organizational structure, mission, doctrine, leadership, customs and courtesies, operations, tactics, techniques, procedures, regulations, and policies.
  • Conduct classroom, laboratory, off-site, and experiential training activities in support of cadet development objectives.
  • Evaluate student performance through examinations, assessments, practical applications, and training events to ensure comprehension and application of instructional material.
  • Plan, synchronize, coordinate, and support Leadership Laboratory (LLAB) activities and cadet leadership development events.
  • Support Professional Military Training (PMT), Professional Development Training (PDT), and physical fitness program oversight.
  • Assist with administration of the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test (AFOQT), Field Training preparation, cadet evaluations, and assessment events.
  • Review and monitor cadet academic degree plans and progress to ensure timely graduation and commissioning eligibility.
  • Perform cadet personnel and administrative actions in accordance with AFROTCI 36-2011 and applicable Holm Center guidance.
  • Support enrollment processing, scholarship administration, standards and disciplinary actions, medical documentation, and cadet records management.
  • Assist with cadet pay actions, DFAS record creation, textbook payments, uniform commutation pay, and travel-related processing.
  • Maintain and update cadet information within WINGS and other AFROTC information management systems.
  • Support detachment resource management and administrative functions related to cadet pay, tuition tracking, travel, and financial reporting.
  • Assist with lesson plan management, distribution of educational materials, academic program updates, and compliance with Automated AFROTC Mail System (ARMS) directives.
  • Support detachment, regional, and headquarters-level boards, evaluations, award packages, decorations, instructor qualification packages, and promotion or reduction boards.
  • Assist with inspections, operational evaluations, compliance reviews, and facility inspections, including data collection, schedule coordination, reporting, and corrective action tracking.
  • Support AFROTC recruiting and retention objectives through participation in recruiting, outreach, and marketing events.
  • Assist with prospect development, recruiting data management, and participation in orientations, college fairs, parades, high school visits, and community engagement events.
  • Support Cross Town Agreement activities with affiliated colleges and universities, including joint training and cadet events.
  • Conduct analysis of instructional effectiveness and support operations to identify process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Provide written recommendations regarding corrective actions, procedural improvements, technology integration, and mission enhancement initiatives supporting AFROTC enterprise objectives.
