About The Position

Kentucky Educational Television (KET) is seeking an Associate Producer for a full-time position in Lexington, Kentucky. KET is Kentucky's only statewide media organization, reaching over two million people weekly and broadcasting into eight states. In addition to PBS programming, KET produces hundreds of hours of award-winning local productions and nationally recognized educational resources. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with a respected public media team, supporting a variety of public affairs and general productions, including Kentucky's only nightly statewide news program, six locally produced series, and special programs. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field plus two (2) years of related experience preferred. Practical experience in these fields may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team, in an environment of multiple projects, priorities and deadlines.
  • Basic video editing experience is required.
  • Strong computer, broadcast writing, communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be available on a flexible schedule and for occasional weekend and overnight travel.
  • Employee occasionally moves/lifts/carries equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to operate equipment while standing/sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Research content, organize pre-production meetings, create and organize pre-production notes, write preliminary scripts and scout and schedule location shoots.
  • Assist with travel arrangements for producers, crew, and talent, help direct and organize crewmembers and talent, help prepare sets and studios for guests, and greet guests and provide for their needs.
  • Prepare prompter scripts and run teleprompter, following and lining scripts, and maintain continuity on set.
  • Log footage, perform basic videography and video editing, write transcripts, organize and archive media files, and assist with post-production editing, graphics, and audio sessions.
  • Perform social media tasks including posting behind-the-scenes production pictures and video on social media platforms. Help create video segments and post segments and other content on KET.org and social media platforms.
  • Assist with preparation and maintenance of records necessary for production, broadcast, and digital use including facilities requests, budgets, rights, contracts, music cue sheets, releases, copyright information, operational records, and reports.
  • Work with direction from Producers and Directors to accomplish KET production goals.
  • Contribute to and execute the creative and editorial vision of KET productions.
