About the position

The Associate Pharmacy Technician at Providence Alaska Medical Center is responsible for the accurate filling and dispensing of medications, including oral and IV forms, to nursing units and other departments. This role emphasizes promptness and accuracy in medication management, while also maintaining the integrity of the automated dispensing system. The position is integral to the pharmacy team, contributing to patient-focused care in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Fill and dispense oral and IV medications accurately and promptly.
  • Triaging patient orders to ensure timely medication delivery.
  • Maintain the integrity of the automated dispensing system.
  • Assist in the management of stock medications for nursing units and ancillary departments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Alaska Pharmacy Technician License upon hire.
  • National Pharmacy Technician certification (e.g., PTCB) where applicable by state.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of a pharmacy technician program (may be required in some states).
  • Inpatient experience in a pharmacy setting.
  • Previous experience with Automated Dispensing Machines (ADMs) and electronic health records (EHR).
