About the position

Idaho Power - located in vibrant Boise, Idaho - is looking for an Associate or Corporate Counsel to join our Legal team. It's an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. Our work plays a critical role in communities we serve across Idaho and Oregon, and we're working hard to safely provide our customers with the reliable, affordable, clean energy they depend on. While this position is based at Idaho Power's downtown Boise location, we offer both flexible schedules and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote, once the initial in-person training period has been completed. Relocation assistance may also be provided to the successful candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and support on a variety of legal issues, depending on practice area assigned.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and explain various types of contracts, including purchase agreements, construction agreements, and real estate agreements.
  • Advise on a wide range of legal issues that cross multiple areas of law.
  • Respond to third-party inquiries or complaints.
  • Identify and mitigate legal risks and engage in creative and efficient problem-solving.
  • Effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Learn new areas of law and adapt to changing legal environment.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret complex legal and business documents.
  • Effectively organize and present complex information in an understandable manner.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate degree.
  • For Associate Counsel: 2 years of experience practicing law in a relevant specialty at a law firm, large corporate legal department, and/or with the government.
  • For Corporate Counsel: 5 years of experience practicing law in a relevant specialty at a law firm, large corporate legal department, and/or with the government.
  • Current membership in a State Bar, and the ability to become licensed to practice law in Idaho within a reasonable time.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position.
