About the position
The Associate Head Club Coach for Ice Hockey at High Point University is a part-time role responsible for leading and coaching the competitive club program. This position aims to foster a love of sports among students while supporting their athletic development. The coach will work closely with the Head Coach and the Director of Recreation Services to ensure the program aligns with the university's vision and values.
Responsibilities
- Instruct student-athletes to improve their skills and performance.
- Evaluate, recruit, and recommend prospective student-athletes under the supervision of the head coach.
- Monitor the conditioning and training of student-athletes in collaboration with the Head Coach.
- Participate in analyzing past performances and designing game plans and strategies.
- Supervise travel arrangements for the team, including housing and transportation, in coordination with the Head Coach.
- Maintain effective communication with students, parents, faculty, co-workers, and managers.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required; College degree preferred.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification is recommended.
- Proficient technical knowledge of Ice Hockey.
- Ability to instruct student-athletes and enhance their athletic performance.
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge of Ice Hockey rules.
