About the position

The Associate Director for the Woodrick Center for Inclusion & Multicultural Affairs at Grand Rapids Community College is responsible for advocating for a student-centered, inclusive approach for diverse populations on campus. This role focuses on increasing access, retention, and success for historically underrepresented students through engagement in academic and co-curricular activities. The position involves leading training and professional development projects, managing a comprehensive budget, and assessing the center's initiatives, all while promoting equity and social justice within the educational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal growth and professional development workshops for students.
  • Create student engagement initiatives for historically under-represented or BIPOC populations.
  • Serve as outreach and liaison between the Woodrick Center and student affinity organizations.
  • Develop culturally affirming training opportunities for students.
  • Coordinate involvement with student outreach and engagement events.
  • Participate in committee service related to assessment and student support services.
  • Develop curriculum and lead equity training sessions for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Facilitate training sessions that demonstrate awareness of institutional bias.
  • Develop assessment tools to capture the impact of initiatives.
  • Manage and reconcile budget activities for the center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a college setting.
  • Demonstrated presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Experience designing assessment tools for diversity initiatives.
  • Experience developing curriculum related to diversity and inclusion.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in grant management and compliance.
  • Knowledge of current research on historically excluded communities in higher education.
  • Ability to network and build relationships within diverse communities.
