About the position

The Associate Director, Business Development US West at Lonza is responsible for driving sales growth and acquiring new business within the Small Molecules Division. This remote role requires a strong understanding of the service offerings, sales processes, and an established industry network to maintain and grow business relationships with clients. The position involves extensive travel within the territory to engage with clients and implement sales strategies aligned with Lonza's goals.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement sales strategies within the territory that align with Lonza's strategic priorities and marketing opportunities.
  • Proactively contact prospects and leads to generate pipeline growth.
  • Collaborate with technical sales, product development, marketing, and portfolio management to identify target services.
  • Track KPIs to assess the effectiveness of sales initiatives and make data-driven adjustments.
  • Negotiate and execute business agreements with legal and commercial guidance.
  • Guide new customers from program award through onboarding stages, working closely with site personnel and program management.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce customers to additional services or business units.
  • Participate in the promotion and organization of Lonza Small Molecules' presence at industry events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or Engineering; Master's and/or MBA preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in CDMO Small Molecule drug substance and/or drug product sales.
  • Proven track record of year-over-year growth within sales territory focusing on new account acquisition.
  • Established customer network within the territory.

  • Experience crafting tailored solutions for customers' unmet needs.
  • Solid understanding of clinical drug development phases and small molecule GMP/regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in using Salesforce for tracking sales activities and customer interactions.
