About the position
The Associate Director of R&D Transformation at AbbVie plays a crucial role in supporting the implementation of strategic initiatives within the R&D organization. This position involves collaborating with executive leadership to drive transformational efforts that enhance operational excellence and accelerate the development of innovative medicines. The role requires strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage complex projects across various functional areas.
Responsibilities
- Support development of high-profile strategic initiatives within the R&D organization.
- Translate strategic vision into action by managing implementation of individual modules within complex initiatives.
- Partner with VP and executive level stakeholders, acting as a thought-partner on key business decisions.
- Bring together strategic, operational, and evidence-based support to create opportunities for sustained operational excellence.
- Leverage internal and external intelligence to answer key R&D questions.
Requirements
- Bachelors or equivalent degree required; advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, MBA) highly preferred.
- Minimum of 4+ years with Bachelors, 3+ years with Masters, and 2+ years with PhD in a competitive environment such as management consulting or pharmaceutical R&D.
- Experience managing large projects within a complex matrixed organization.
- Demonstrated ability to present data and metrics to executive leadership teams.
- Proven facilitative leadership skills in a cross-functional global team environment.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to evaluate complex issues from multiple perspectives.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in pharmaceutical R&D or manufacturing.
- Familiarity with clinical trial processes.
