About The Position

The purpose of this position is to lead and direct a team of Pedigree Complex personnel to achieve R&D genetic program targets and commercial pipeline objectives. This role is responsible for achieving R&D genetic progress objectives, commercial pipeline objectives, and biosecurity and animal welfare objectives. The Associate Director will also develop, lead, and retain qualified and effective team members across all positions, foster and maintain a strong culture of safety across all departments, and maintain genetic security and integrity. Additionally, this position involves developing and managing capital and operational budgets.

Requirements

  • Requires broad knowledge in a general professional field normally acquired through four (4) years of college, resulting in a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • Seven (7) or more years of poultry management and Pedigree Farm experience preferred.
  • Standard computer skills are required. This position requires working with Excel spreadsheets and data within several other computer applications.
  • Safe lifting techniques must be used.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The team member must also reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, talk, and hear.
  • The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • The team member is expected to follow all required safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • The job site is a biosecure environment that requires showering before entering the facility and may require multiple showers during the workday.
  • Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company.
  • No jewelry may be worn on the job site except for medical ID jewelry.
  • The team member must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid contact with all avian species, including chickens, ducks, and birds.
  • The Company Animal Welfare Policy must be followed at all times.
  • The team member must also be willing to follow all guidelines outlined in the Biosecurity Standards.
  • This position manages: Seven (7) direct salaried positions, One (1) indirect salaried position, Four (4) indirect management support positions, Ninety-five (95+) hourly team members
  • Two (2) to three (3) trips per year.
