About The Position

The College of Arts and Science (CAS) and the Center for Career Exploration and Success (CCES) seek an Associate Director of External Relations. This role executes a comprehensive strategy for engaging industry partners, alumni, and other external stakeholders with CAS faculty, staff, and students. The Associate Director will cultivate and sustain these relationships to enhance experiential learning, support co-curricular programs, and create internship and job opportunities for CAS graduates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of professional work experience.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Master’s degree and 10+ years of professional work experience.
  • Event planning experience.
  • Established track record of identifying, developing, and managing relationships, particularly with organizations appealing to CAS majors.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, cultivate, and manage strategic relationships with relevant industries, organizations, and Miami alumni to support experiential learning, co-curricular centers, and increase direct engagement between external partners and CAS academic departments.
  • Collaborate with CAS and CCES leadership to understand and represent CAS learning outcomes to external partners, identifying opportunities that complement classroom learning.
  • Relay employer feedback and industry trends to CAS senior leadership and faculty to inform curriculum and program development.
  • Facilitate alumni participation in classroom visits, project-based learning, job shadowing, and other experiential opportunities.
  • Identify and coordinate campus visits for engaged alumni and secure strong alumni partners for internships and career opportunities.
  • Identify employer and employee educational needs and align them with CAS's current or potential new programs and certificate offerings.
  • Educate employers on the unique skills and strengths of CAS majors, encouraging consideration of CAS candidates.
  • Work with university marketing teams to effectively communicate the value of CAS and CCES in supporting student career development to external audiences.
  • Coordinate closely with CAS academic departments, graduate programs, centers, institutes, University Advancement, and CCES career advisors to build interdepartmental relationships, collaborate on events, and secure employer participation in CAS-focused programming.
  • Lead CAS involvement in university career fairs, including soliciting employer registrations and crafting employer messaging.
  • Serve as the Employer Relations Team lead for organizations specifically seeking candidates with CAS majors and maintain meticulous records of all engagement activities.
