About the position

The Associate Director of Athletics Development / Senior Associate Director of Athletics Development at Fordham University is responsible for overseeing fundraising activities that support the university's athletics program, which includes 22 intercollegiate and 14 club sports. This role involves managing a portfolio of prospects, coordinating strategic operations, and ensuring effective donor engagement and acknowledgment. The position requires occasional evening and weekend work, as well as some overnight travel.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the execution of fundraising activities for Fordham's athletics program.
  • Coordinate strategic operations and manage a prospect portfolio.
  • Assist in prospect management operations for the Athletics Development team.
  • Ensure comprehensive prospect portfolios are developed and refreshed periodically.
  • Supervise the contact reporting process for assigned athletics prospects.
  • Manage donor acknowledgment to ensure timely and appropriate thanks to all donors.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of the prospect pipeline to maximize giving opportunities.
  • Participate in key athletics events and DAUR functions.
  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 175 annual giving prospects.
  • Devise individual engagement strategies for each prospect to solicit annual gifts and multi-year commitments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 4 years of fundraising experience for Associate Director role or a combination of fundraising and equivalent experience driving athletics revenue in progressively responsible positions.
  • Minimum of 5 years of fundraising experience for Senior Associate Director role or a combination of fundraising and equivalent experience driving athletics revenue in progressively responsible positions.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • A track record of exceeding fundraising goals.
  • Ability to engage prospects in all phases of development: qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven track record for successfully translating strategic ideas into measurable results.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with database and CRM tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with CRM Advance and/or Blackbaud Fundraiser Performance Management.
  • Capital campaign experience.
