About The Position

Global Campus is a core unit within CPGE and serves as the university’s central hub for international programs, global engagement, and international partnerships. Through Global Campus, CPGE leads institutional efforts to broaden and deepen international engagement by expanding inbound and outbound student mobility, strengthening global partnerships, supporting faculty and academic programs in integrating global competencies into curricula, and developing innovative international and virtual education models. The department provides operational leadership and oversight for international student and scholar services, study abroad, and global initiatives, while ensuring regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and high-quality student support. Through these efforts, Global Campus advances CPGE’s strategic priorities and contributes to Cal Poly Pomona’s goal of preparing students to thrive in an increasingly interconnected global environment and to make meaningful contributions at the regional, national, and international levels.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree - International education or related field
  • 5 years of experience in managing international education programs.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing professional and student staff teams, including performance management, training, and fostering inclusive work environments.
  • Proven experience overseeing program budgets, financial operations, and logistical planning for international programs, including vendor coordination and compliance oversight.
  • Hands-on experience as a Designated School Official (DSO) or Responsible Officer (RO), with a track record of ensuring institutional compliance with SEVIS, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and international education policies.
  • Experience supporting international student and scholar services, including compliance oversight, integration efforts, and enhancing campus internationalization.
  • Supervisory experience with a professional staff. A proven track record of developing and supporting employees, with the ability to provide guidance for maximum performance and work satisfaction and effectively manage performance and outcomes.
  • In-depth knowledge of international higher education systems, global engagement practices, and cross-cultural program development.
  • Ability to manage complex international programs, including operational budgeting, compliance, and cross-functional coordination across departments and external partners.
  • Ability to make decisions and develop operational tactics based on data, analytics, best practices, and resources.
  • Ability to align international initiatives with university-wide strategic priorities and academic goals.
  • Strong skills in advising and engaging with diverse international student populations, faculty, and global partners to foster inclusive and effective collaboration.
  • Sound project management skills and ability to plan and organize multiple projects with established budgets, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in using technology and software relevant to the department’s services and activities (e.g., productivity tools such as Microsoft Office, general content management systems and customer relationship management software).
  • In-depth understanding of F-1 and J-1 visa regulations, SEVIS processes, and CSU/system-wide and federal policies governing international programs.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within and outside of U.S. with valid documents.
  • Ability to supervise, mentor, and develop staff while fostering a collaborative and service-oriented work environment aligned with institutional goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with internal stakeholders including college, university offices and administrators to ensure the understanding and success of marketing and communications campaigns.
  • Ability to create inclusive, globally engaged learning environments that support both international and domestic student success.

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic and day-to-day management of ISSSO and OSA operations, including budget development and monitoring, staff supervision, and policy implementation. Ensures programs align with institutional goals, meet regulatory standards, and promote operational excellence.
  • Oversees daily and strategic operations of the ISSSO and OSA, including program planning, organizational structure, workflow, and performance management.
  • Manages ISSSO and OSA financial operations, including budget development, expenditure tracking, and revenue forecasting to meet fiscal targets.
  • Ensures compliance with CSU, federal, and institutional policies, coordinating with internal audit and risk management as needed.
  • Collaborates with key campus offices such as Admissions, Enrollment, I&IT, Registrar, and Health Services to support international student success and program delivery.
  • Participates in strategic planning and CPGE leadership discussions; contributes to the implementation of the college’s global vision.
  • Oversight Oversees all immigration services for F-1 and J-1 international students and scholars. Ensures SEVIS compliance, leads document processing (I-20, DS-2019), and supports student success through advising, cultural engagement, and personal support services.
  • Serves as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and Responsible Officer (RO) for SEVIS-related compliance and services.
  • Oversees issuance of I-20 and DS-2019 forms and ensures lawful status and academic compliance of F-1 and J-1 visa holders.
  • Leads SEVIS Batch processing and coordinates institutional reporting, including the IIE Open Doors Census.
  • Directs immigration advising and supports employment processes (OPT, CPT), visa guidance, and change-of-status requests.
  • Ensures accurate training of ISSO staff on immigration regulations and technology systems (e.g., Terra Dotta, OnBase).
  • Develops cultural programming, orientation, and workshops (e.g., tax, visa, scholarship) to support student acculturation and engagement.
  • Collaborates with departments to develop proactive outreach programs and ensure student access to relevant campus services.
  • Directs the design, implementation, and compliance of study abroad and student exchange programs.
  • Advises students, collaborates with global partners, and ensures integration of overseas study into the academic curriculum.
  • Directs design and delivery of study abroad programs, including faculty-led, reciprocal exchange, independent study, and CSU International Programs.
  • Ensures compliance with CSU and external policies related to international travel and student participation.
  • Leads the development of policies and procedures to support program accessibility, risk mitigation, and academic integration.
  • Guides student advising efforts and ensures students know all applicable CSU and third-party global education opportunities.
  • Partners with GEI and academic units to identify and develop international partnerships that expand mobility pathways.
  • Manages international institutional relationships and coordinates the development and review of MOUs, exchange agreements, agent contracts, and other formal agreements that support international collaboration and program delivery.
  • Maintains and evaluates active institutional partnerships while cultivating new opportunities aligned with CPP’s global mission.
  • Coordinates drafting, review, and implementation of MOUs, exchange agreements, agent contracts, and program-specific agreements.
  • Ensures that all agreements comply with CSU regulations and institutional standards.
  • Supports the development of self-supporting revenue-generating programs in collaboration with CPGE units.
  • Coordinates logistical planning and vendor relationships for study abroad, inbound delegations, and short-term international programs. Oversees program evaluation and continuous quality improvement across all international initiatives.
  • Manages event and program logistics for inbound and outbound international programs, including ground transportation, lodging, meals, and cultural activities.
  • Supports planning and hosting of international delegations, conferences, and campus-wide global events (e.g., International Education Week, Lunar New Year).
  • Coordinates with vendors and external partners to deliver reliable and high-quality services to program participants.
  • Provides support on international program operations, including budget and pricing, program development, and financial reporting.
  • Leads continuous evaluation of international programs to assess student outcomes, client satisfaction, and alignment with institutional goals.
  • Leads professional and student staff across ISSSO and OSA units. Promotes a collaborative work environment and ensures training, performance evaluation, and team development aligned with the university’s values and goals.
  • Supervises professional staff and student assistants, including performance evaluations, goal setting, and workload management.
  • Fosters a service-oriented, inclusive work culture grounded in accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
