About the position

The Associate Director, Annual Giving Programs plays a crucial role in the Development team at Michigan Athletics, focusing on strategies to retain and acquire donors. This position supports the Senior Director of Annual Giving by enhancing donor relationships and contributing to the overall strategy of Annual Giving programming. The role emphasizes collaboration and communication to achieve effective fundraising outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of a strategic communication plan for annual giving donors using various mediums.
  • Collaborate with Donor Relations to create a stewardship strategy for Annual Giving donors.
  • Measure the success of annual giving initiatives using analytics and metrics to track donor count and dollars raised.
  • Manage the Michigan Athletics Priority Point Program in collaboration with the Development Operations team.
  • Provide donor/customer service via phone, email, and in person, addressing inquiries about gifts, giving history, and donor benefits.
  • Handle inquiries of a sensitive nature on behalf of Michigan Athletics, responding to internal and external requests.
  • Assist with planning and execution of visits for current and prospective donors.
  • Manage ongoing promotions and solicitations for athletic giving circles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • Two to four years of experience in a development environment or related field.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of constituents in a fast-paced customer service environment.
  • High energy, enthusiasm, initiative, and passion for customer service.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to set priorities and handle multiple assignments and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse personalities under pressure.
  • Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality with high-level donors.
  • Strong commitment to the student-athlete experience.
  • Proficient in PC usage, Google Applications, and MS Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Access or similar database systems, with experience in relational databases.
  • Familiarity with UM Development systems and PACIOLAN Athletics Ticketing/Fundraising software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Business Objects is a plus.
  • Experience in a higher education or athletic department setting.
