About the position

The Associate Director - Advanced Manufacturing Deployment and Digitalization at RTX Corporation will lead efforts in the Advanced Manufacturing discipline, focusing on the development and transition of innovative manufacturing processes and digitalization tools. This role involves collaboration with top scientists and engineers to enhance manufacturing technologies for aerospace and defense applications, ensuring successful adoption and integration into business unit operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and transition of advanced manufacturing technologies to business unit operations teams.
  • Identify key offramps and transitions for internally developed technologies.
  • Engage with transition partners to close capability gaps for successful technology adoption.
  • Define and propose funding strategies to support technology transition efforts.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to execute IRAD and CRAD programs.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management and external partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, or related field with 12+ years of experience, or a Master's degree with 9+ years, or a PhD with 7+ years of experience.
  • Proven track record of transitioning new manufacturing technologies into production in regulated industries.
  • Experience with digitalization of manufacturing processes to enhance operations.
  • Hands-on knowledge of various manufacturing methods including additive manufacturing, machining, and forming.
  • Experience in defining and executing large strategic programs for internal or external funding.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced Degree in a relevant engineering field.
  • Experience in proposing and executing IRAD and CRAD projects in a leadership role.
  • Background in developing manufacturing technology strategies.
  • Involvement in supply chain optimization and technology deployment.
  • History of patents and peer-reviewed publications.
