About The Position

The Associate Counsel II reports directly to the Deputy Counsel. This position provides legal advice, counsel, and assistance to Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority (CapMetro) staff and Board Members with minimal supervision. The Associate Counsel is responsible for the provision of legal advice and services related to all legal matters of CapMetro, with a focus on real estate and right of way and capital improvement matters, including the review, analysis, negotiation and drafting of contracts for the acquisition and disposition of real property, transit-oriented development deals with public and private partners, leasing, licensing, financing, city permitting and zoning, municipal ordinances and regulations, transit planning, construction, and related office, environmental, procurement, risk management, and public funding compliance issues. CapMetro is Austin's regional public transportation provider, established in 1985, connecting people with jobs, schools, restaurants, shops, festivals, and other great places to hang out, with over 31 million boardings annually. Responsibilities

  • Provides legal advice, counsel, and assistance to Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority (CapMetro) staff and Board Members with minimal supervision.
  • Provides legal advice and services related to all legal matters of CapMetro, with a focus on real estate and right of way and capital improvement matters.
  • Reviews, analyzes, negotiates, and drafts contracts for the acquisition and disposition of real property.
  • Handles transit-oriented development deals with public and private partners.
  • Manages leasing, licensing, financing, city permitting and zoning, municipal ordinances and regulations, transit planning, and construction.
  • Addresses related office, environmental, procurement, risk management, and public funding compliance issues.
