About The Position

The Associate Athletic Director - Student-Athlete Success & Performance supports the holistic development of Menlo student-athletes by integrating physical performance, mental wellness, sports psychology, character development and academic success into a coordinated athletics experience. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, this role provides leadership for performance programming, wellness initiatives, and college recruiting support while overseeing key staff and operational systems that contribute to student-athlete growth. This is a full-time, in-person role that requires some evening and weekend attendance at various athletic competitions and school events throughout the year.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience working in athletics, sports performance, student wellness, or a related educational setting.
  • A Master's or Doctorate in counseling or sports performance psychology.
  • Demonstrated ability to support student-athletes in a holistic way, including physical, emotional, and academic dimensions.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for working with student-athletes and a deep commitment to fostering a joyful, values-based athletics environment that prioritizes character, participation, and growth.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to manage multiple staff members and cross-functional priorities.
  • Knowledge of athlete development, injury prevention, recovery practices, and performance programming.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with coaches, trainers, administrators, students, and families.
  • Strong organizational and operational skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives at once.
  • Experience with Google Workspace, scheduling and project management platforms, Team Snap, and website CMS management platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Current or pending Certified Mental Performance Consultant certification under the Association of Applied Sport Psychology.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and strengthen programs that promote student-athlete performance, recovery, and long-term development.
  • Provide performance psychology strategies for 6th grade through 12th grade student-athletes building mental toughness, emotional regulation, and resilience to maximize potential.
  • Teach leadership skills and character development to the Knights Leadership Council and guide the coaching staff to optimize character development.
  • Partner with coaches, trainers, and school colleagues to align physical performance, wellness, and academic support for student-athletes.
  • Support recruitment advocacy for student-athletes, including both incoming students and those pursuing collegiate athletics opportunities.
  • Oversee, support and supervise performance staff, training staff, and the College Recruiting Coordinator.
  • Help establish and monitor performance benchmarks related to strength, conditioning, recovery, and injury prevention.
  • Contribute to systems and processes that improve student-athlete safety, readiness, and overall athletics operations.
