About The Position

Temple University's Athletics Department is searching for an Assistant Women's Rowing Coach. This role assists in developing a Division I competitive Women's Rowing program. The primary function is to teach student-athletes the sport of Women's Rowing, focusing on fundamentals, teaching during practices and meetings, and preparing for competitions. The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach by providing leadership and integrity, which includes creating, planning, organizing, teaching, motivating, communicating, and controlling aspects related to recruiting, practices, competitions, student-athletes, and booster clubs. The Assistant Coach is expected to represent the University, the Department, and the sport appropriately, and to be knowledgeable about and comply with NCAA regulatory policies governing their sport, including recruiting, eligibility, ethical standards, playing seasons, and extra benefits. This role also performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • At least two years of previous rowing experience as a collegiate coach and/or collegiate student-athlete.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Software including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, strong leadership, and team-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize diverse tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work a highly variable schedule including nights and weekends.
  • Strong integrity and character who shares a commitment for knowing and complying with NCAA, Conference and University rules.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • NCAA Division I experience.
  • Demonstrated experience driving a trailer & managing equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience recruiting athletes to the sport of rowing.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing a Division I competitive Women's Rowing program.
  • Teach student-athletes the sport of Women's Rowing, focusing on fundamentals.
  • Teach the sport during scheduled practices and meetings.
  • Prepare for competitions.
  • Support the Head Coach by providing leadership and integrity to the program.
  • Assist with recruiting, practices, competitions, student-athletes, and related booster clubs.
  • Conduct themselves in a manner representative of the University, the Department, and the sport.
  • Be knowledgeable about and comply with NCAA regulatory policy governing their sport as well as NCAA and conference policies governing recruiting, eligibility, ethical standards, playing seasons, and extra benefits.
  • Successfully complete their annual NCAA compliance meeting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with scheduling, meal planning, coaching, recruiting, scouting, and purchasing and caring for equipment.
  • Implement policies and guidelines for all Women's Rowing personnel and student-athletes.
