About the position

The Assistant Wellness Director is responsible for maintaining and implementing nursing policies and procedures that reflect current standards of nursing practice, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. This role involves communicating and interpreting policies to nursing staff, conducting resident assessments, and ensuring the delivery of compassionate quality care. The Assistant Wellness Director monitors practices for effective implementation and achievement of results, demonstrating knowledge of Key Clinical Quality Indicators and proactively implementing systems to achieve company thresholds. Additionally, the position requires reviewing daily reports, gathering and analyzing facts, and communicating findings to the Wellness Director or Executive Director. The Assistant Wellness Director also oversees infection control programs, monitors staff compliance with OSHA mandates, and evaluates regulatory compliance efforts through daily rounds.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and implements nursing policies and procedures.
  • Communicates and interprets policies to nursing staff.
  • Conducts resident assessments and suggests service packages.
  • Ensures delivery of compassionate quality care.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Key Clinical Quality Indicators.
  • Reviews daily reports from every unit.
  • Gathers and analyzes facts to resolve issues.
  • Monitors and responds to Care and Concern program.
  • Communicates with residents, families, and medical staff.
  • Establishes and monitors infection control programs.
  • Monitors staff for compliance with OSHA mandates.
  • Evaluates regulatory compliance through daily rounds.
  • Oversees in-service educational programs for nursing staff.
  • Assists Wellness Director with state survey preparation.
  • Collaborates with physicians and community agencies.
  • Consults with Wellness Director about various issues.
  • Participates in budget development and compliance.
  • Develops positive employee relations and recognition programs.
  • Ensures 24-hour availability as nursing administration resource.
  • Serves as Nurse and Certified Nursing Assistant when needed.
  • Acts in administrative capacity in absence of Wellness Director.
  • Participates in community and agency events.
  • Complies with privacy practices and procedures.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies.
  • Directly supervises Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Experience in nursing management or supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to assess and respond to resident needs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in long-term care or assisted living facilities.
  • Certification in infection control.
  • Experience with budget management.
