About the position

The Assistant Warehouse Manager at National DCP is responsible for overseeing the selection and outbound loading of dry and refrigerated trailers, ensuring operations are conducted safely and efficiently. This role involves managing receiving activities for inbound products and supervising warehouse staff to meet operational goals. The position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to improve efficiencies within the warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor employee performance and ensure daily operational plans are met.
  • Execute operations based on daily case volume.
  • Ensure timely selection of orders and loading of trucks for dispatch.
  • Evaluate procedures and staff performance to improve efficiencies.
  • Counsel, record, and discipline staff as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Transportation to address driver concerns regarding load quality.
  • Interview, select, and train warehouse staff to maintain necessary staffing levels.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and selection procedures.
  • Train staff on safe operation of material handling equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with warehouse associates to maintain safety and organization.
  • Present production and service metrics performance reports to upper management.
  • Manage maintenance and upkeep of the facility.
  • Supervise Warehouse Supervisors, Receivers, Selectors, and Loaders.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of warehouse operations experience with supervisory/management experience.
  • Previous experience in a Food Distribution environment preferred.
  • Financial acumen with previous P&L responsibility preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of OSHA Standards and regulations.
  • SAP experience preferred; WMS experience required (Manhattan desirable).
  • Experience with voice selecting applications preferred (Vocollect desirable).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to work varying schedules.
