About the position
The Assistant Varsity Boys Basketball Coach (.5) for the 9th Grade C-Team at Johnston Community School District is responsible for promoting a fundamentally sound athletic program that emphasizes physical and skill development of individual athletes. The role encourages a positive attitude towards fair play and sportsmanship while assisting the head coach in various administrative and operational tasks.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparation, maintenance, repair, and storage of equipment.
- Assist in issuing equipment to players.
- Enforce training rules and report any violations.
- Carry out all duties assigned by the head coach.
- Ensure injury and insurance reports are made and filed appropriately.
- Maintain the locker and equipment rooms in proper condition.
- Attend all practice sessions and games or be available for scouting assignments.
- Assist with checking in equipment and taking inventory.
- Suggest new equipment needs to the head coach.
- Administer and supervise the towels, locks, and lockers used during the athletic season.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the head coach or Athletic Director.
Requirements
- Valid Iowa Coaching Authorization or K-12 Athletic Coach endorsement.
