About the position

The Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach at Tyee High School is responsible for teaching the fundamentals of baseball while fostering teamwork, discipline, and a love for the game among student-athletes. Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct baseball practices, focusing on skill development and teamwork.
• Teach players the rules of the game, strategies, and techniques to improve their performance.
• Organize and oversee games, ensuring that all players participate and understand their roles.
• Provide constructive feedback to players to help them improve their skills.
• Monitor player progress and maintain records of performance.
• Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, sportsmanship, and personal growth.
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school staff regarding player development and team activities.
• Ensure safety protocols are followed during practices and games.

Requirements

• Previous experience in sports coaching or physical education is preferred.
• Experience working with students in an educational or athletic setting is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of baseball rules, strategies, and techniques is essential.
• Skills in other sports such as basketball, judo, karate, or swimming are considered a plus.
• Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes while promoting teamwork and discipline.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with players, parents, and staff.
• A commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in coaching basketball or judo.
